Remembering Self: Seasons of the Soul Rediscovered Through Mystical
Experience and Depth Psychology
Eldering Guidance for the Labyrinth of Life and Beyond
Remembering Self uniquely weaves together the mystery of mystical spirituality, the depth of Jungian Psychoanalysis, and the complexity of attachment theory into a feeling-filled and profound reflection on the course and evolution of soul through the lifespan. Though similar to popular titles such as “Living an Examined Life" by James Hollis and “Discovering the Essential Self” by Eckhart Tolle, Remembering Self artfully offers a theoretical framework embedded into a heartfelt personal narrative and illuminating spiritual inquiry in a way that the previous titles do not.

Dr. Lakritz’s new work, Remembering Self: Seasons of the Soul Rediscovered Through Mystical Experience and Depth Psychology, is a unique and poetic exploration of the human psyche and the journey toward wholeness and psychospiritual unity.
Remembering Self uniquely weaves together the mystery of mystical spirituality, the depth of
Jungian Psychoanalysis, and the complexity of attachment theory into a feeling-filled and profound reflection on the course and evolution of soul through the lifespan. Remembering Self artfully offers a theoretical framework embedded into a heartfelt personal narrative and illuminating spiritual inquiry Lakritz is dedicated to the balance of the immanent human realm and the transcendent realm, offering readers a profound yet accessible guide through life, consciousness, and the powerful mystery that is the Self.
Remembering Self is broken into sections following the framework of the “four seasons of life”- spring, summer, fall, and winter- through which the soul evolves. Within each section, Lakritz details the tasks, responsibilities, and development necessary to integrate and move through each stage of life. Each season represents both a universal, transcendent perspective and an imminent, personal reflection through the voice of Shemah, a character who is recounting his life as he nears death. Though Shemah is a fictional character, his story is an amalgam of Lakritz’s clinical patients over the forty years of his practice. Shemah reflects on his life under the guidance of Cornelius, a wise figure representing the essence of Self.
